Where Remote Control is the better fit
- It’s built by Anthropic and comes with your Claude plan.
- There’s nothing else to install on your Mac.
- It works on Android and in the browser, not just on iPhone.
- You don’t need Tailscale.
Where Hoptail fits
- You run several agents in tmux and want to see all of them at once.
- You want to Allow or Deny right from the notification.
- You want the real terminal and your git changes on your phone.
- You want Desk and Away modes, so your phone stays quiet while you’re at your Mac.
Price.
Remote Control is included in Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Hoptail is free during the beta; you’ll need your own Claude Code and Tailscale accounts.
Verdict.
Use Remote Control if you want Anthropic’s official app on any device. Use Hoptail if your agents live in tmux on your Mac and you want them to find you.
